Group Policy processing aborted.

Constantin Chionas

I installed Windows Server 2003 with a Domain role, i
created OU, then installed Windows XP on a workstation,
then added the workstation name to the domain under the
OU.

Everything went fine, but when i logon to the domain from
the workstation the Group Policy of the Domain never
process, i got the following message in Event Viewer:

"Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The
specified domain either does not exist or could not be
contacted. ). Group Policy processing aborted. "

But i can access all the files on the server, and work
normally, its only that the Group Policy do not apply to
computers on the domain.

The client must use only the DNS servers able to support
the DNS zone(s) used for AD and those zones must be
healthy.
On both the client, and on the DC, try running
netdiag
which is found in the support tools.
