Removed Norton Trial on HP Vista Laptop w/4g of RAM and AMD processor.

Everything seemed to go well (a few boots) until we turned it off last
night.

Today, after typing password, get "Cannot log in due to Group Policy"
something or other.

Password works fine in safe mode.

Did you change permission(s) in Group Policy . Change back to default

Hi,

Shutdown completely and restart. If this doesn't work restart once more,
this time hitting F8 immediately after the initial system POST to access the
boot menu. Choose the last known good configuration.

Last Known Good? Too late for that, even. We never changed an GP, and even
tried resetting all permissions back to default (secedit)

Hi,

Last Known Good Configuration uses the system settings from the last
successful login. If something was changed that is causing the GP error,
this should get the system back to the point where you were last able to log
in.
