Group Policy Management Console with SP1

I have read that this update will support managing windows xp prof sp2
clients in Active Directory. I am using Windows 2000 AD with mix windows
clients (WinNT Wks SP6, Win2K Prof SP4, WinXP Prof SP1 and SP2). My concern
is if I install this on my Windows 2000 DCs, will there be no effect on my
clients especially clients below WinXP Prof SP2?

If a client does not support a policy it simply ignores it. However, any
settings a client does support will be applied no matter what the operating
system is.

Just to add to Richards valid comments:



You can only install the GPMC on your administration Windows XP machine it
will not run on 2000, but it will happily allow you to control and manage
Group Policy in a Windows 2000 Active Directory environment. Remember GPMC
is just the management tool.



If you are concerned about what policies effect what machines; download the
spreadsheet from Microsoft that gives you a reference to the policies and
the machines that they will effect including service pack revisions.
