Group policy error

Hello. When I open group policy to edit it from the domain controller in AD
users and computer, a box pops up that says: The following entry in the
[strings] section is to long and is being truncated. If you enable any
policies for the security page, it is strongly recommended that you also
configure policy to disable the security page from being presented in the UI
to prevent users from believing they can change their security settings. You
can disable the security page using the policy located at administrative
templates\windows components\internet explorer\internet explorer co

You can then click ok and another box will pop up about internet explorer.
It will do this about 100 times before it lets me in. What is this message
mean and how do I get rid of it? Thanks.

Hi Kevin,

I have seen this happen when the policy was created on a Windows 2003 SP1
server or Windows XP SP2 workstation the you try to edit it on a non-Windows
2003 SP1 or Windows 2000 server.

Upgrading to Windows 2003 server SP1 will fix the error or editing it from
another system that has the proper OS and SP level stated above.

machine and the dc's are windows 2000 sp4

Is it ok to do it this way or anyway to fix it?

Take a look at Microsoft KB article 842933. There's a hotfix that will fix
this.
