When in Windows Mail Properties, under the Security tab, there is a group or
user which I (not knowingly) did not create.

The group / user name is WMPNetworkSvc & has permissions to Read.

I have tried to delete this but it tells me I can't as it is "inheriting
permissions from it's parent". When trying to remove the permissions the
message is "You have denied all access to users of Windows Mail. ...Do you
want to continue?" I don't continue.

Does anyone know what WMPNetworkSvc is. Is it harmful & if so, how do you
remove it?

First, scan for virus/malware.

It *looks* like Windows Media Player is allowed to read your mail. ??
