"Group messages marked for deletion" not working

I use Outlook 2003 and had the "Group messages marked for deletion" selected.
It has stopped working. How can I get it back? The choice is there--under
Organize and Views but nothing happens when I select it.
 
You can reset the view to its original settings in View | Arrange By |
Current View | Define Views.
