group and user accounts

i added a new admin (admin01) to the admins group, so i
could remove admin. i move the original 'admin' to the
user group only.
i changed the ownership from admin to admin01.

now i can not add users or move existing users as the new,
delete, clear password buttons are greyed out.

the add, remove for available groups or members of are
also greyed.

what went wrong to cause this?

Well, you are presumeably logging-on as a user who does not have permission
to add or change users!

What user are you logging-on as?
