Grocery inventory program

My brother and I live together. He buys the groceries. He often
buys too much of some items and runs out of others.

Is there a grocery inventory program that would help him keep track
of what we have and what we need?

I have a CueCat bar code scanner and a laptop computer. If we could
scan each item IN when we put it away and then scan each item OUT
when we use it, the program would be easier to use than if we had to
type in each item. (Actually, if we had to type IN and OUT each
item we probably would not use the program.)

Thank you in advance for all replies.

My previous cat Rocket thought that every time I ate something he
should get some canned cat food. Marmaduke, the cat I have now,
thinks that he should get canned food and be allowed to get on the
table and eat what he wants off my plate.
1. It`s quicker to look in the cupboards.
2. Perhaps your cat is trying to teach you to eat off the floor, so he
can have the table to himself.
Grab him firmly, but gently by the testicles, and lower him to
the floor, and explain that he eats down there <g>.

or write each item on a shopping list when you use it (preprinted lists
are a help for the items you use often). . .

That said :) there are some apps listed here:

Thought you may have some Susan, very good. Checked them out & some
adjustments are needed.

My Lil' Shopper he has listed under " L " > Lil' Shopper.

Shopping List Acute Software
The link has au in the wrong place, should be >
http://www.acutesoftware.com.au/shopping.html

The download page is > http://www.acutesoftware.com.au/freebies.html &
the download link is > http://www.simtel.net/pub/dl/15558.shtml

It can look as if it is not free, even though the link says freebies,
so I downloaded & installed, clicked on Help > About & it is free.

Another link which spells out freeware clearer is >
http://www.sharewareplaza.com/Shopping-download_13391.html

There is a short blurb about this very thing in the current issue of PC
Magazine. It even references the CueCat bar code scanner. Go check it
out.
Also try www.backpackit.com A free web-based app where you can create
lists to share or keep private. Start a grocery list and add or delete
items from any computer (with browser), anyware. Multiple people can
than check it and pick up what is needed while they are out. Just a
thought.

The ACF link is to SOS' site (not a specific page) - searching for "My
Lil' Shopper" will get you to the right page AND show you part of the
description which begins "Lil' Shopper My Lil' Shopper is. . . ." - IOW,
I think that's a non-problem.

Thank you! The problem was an extra "/" - caused by a global search and
replace I did recently => some other links had the same problem - I
think I've got them all corrected now - new ACF pages coming up shortly.

Thanks again. I changed the link to a page which does say it's free to
minimize confusion.

That would be VERY hard to do as while he acts like he has big brass
ones, he does not have any. I had him "fixed" almost nine years ago
when he was six or seven months old.
