Hi,

SImple question.

Using Outlook express, I received a virsused messages, well intercepted by
Kaspersky, so-collad send by
greatcustomer AT msn dot com
I never subscribed to that service to msn as this mailbox is not associated
with MSN but with my P&T

The content is below
How to know who sent me this message ? Properties of the mail only tell me
that it was received by my local P&T and sent by greatcustomer, etc
If I searching fro greatcustomer at msn dot com using goggle I found some
pages that seem to be associated to viruses.

Kaspersky encyclipedia does not know this virus or any name associated to
this possible virus

NB. It was sent on saturday (most viruses are transmitted on week days)

Thanks for your ligths

Thierry

Fiel content was:

Subject : Message has been disinfected : Re: word document
Body:

Requested file.
<horizontal line>
document.scr: No virus found
Powered by the new Norton OnlineScan
Get protected: www.symantec.com

the file ended with the logo of symantec (the real anti-virus company)

The FROM: address is easily forged, so that is not the best way to find
out where it really came from.

You do not have to subscribe to MSN services in order to be able to
receive email from MSN people.

No, not really. You posted Kaspersky's message.
How to know who sent me this message ?

If you were to post the full header of this message, someone could
probably tell you where it came from. The header can be found by viewing
the source of the message.

Thierry,

Some info on the new MSN worm, detected as IM-Worm.Win32.Licat.c by
KAV (a recent addition to the KAV database).
