Gravis Gamepad Pro (joy.cpl)

I

Iain

I had trouble configuring my Gamepad Pro recently. Mainly
I'm sure this is because I had a virus. There was a bunch
of reinstalls, and I took a long time to get rid of
it 'cause it kept me out of Windows update. (this dummy
didn't turn on his firewall)
Anyway, before I had realized the nature of the problem
I'd installed Gravis' driver/software package and since
removing it I can't see Gamepad Pro in the list of
available controllers.
Is there a way I can restore my joy.cpl to its original
form? Is there something I can run from the command line
to extract it from the CD? Is there a better way to get
this gamepad working?
I'd appreciate any help.
If you need more info just let me know.
thanks

Hi Iain,

If you have a CD with the XP compatible profile software for
a USB Gravis Gamepad, install the software while the gamepad
is not connected, shut down, connect the gamepad and then
start up the computer. If this method doesn't work then go to
Control Panel / Game Controllers, click the Add... button and
select Gravis Gamepad from the list. Remove any other installed
game controller on that list which might be left over from before.

Thanks for your input,
I ought to have mentioned that I have the non-USB Gamepad
Pro (gameport connection) and that I lost the installation
CD when I last moved.
Any online resources?
PS. I think it may be working okay now, but it messed up
before too

Hi Iain,

Glad that the gamepad is working now! :)

You might be able to find XP compatible software at Gravis's
support site: http://www.gravis.com/support/sup_x1010.html
however don't change anything we've got it working properly now. :)
