I bought a new video card awhile back, and I was just wondering if I could
disable the graphics controller that came with the comptuer and just use the
graphics card.

That is generally the case. Your computer will either recognize the
presence of the add-on video card by itself and disable the on-board
chip, or you'll have to alter the appropriate setting in the BIOS.
Before you try anything funny, set your monitor to 640*480 and 75hz.

Most of the time, yes. You might want to check your computer manual if you
have one.
