I'm using IE6 on a high speed cable hookup. I recently
upgraded from Windows 95 to ME. Now on many web pages
(including this one!) the graphics are blank with a small
red "x" in the upper left corner. I have all the IE6
updates; I've made sure the graphics performance slider
under system properties is on "full", and under internet
options I've made sure that java is enabled under the
advanced tab. What am I missing--something simple and
obvious, I hope!

Suggestion from a non-pro:
I think I had mine do this once on a graphics-heavy page.
Did you try going into Tools, then Internet Options, then
onto the Advanced tab, and in that, make sure that under
Multimedia, "show pictues" is checked? I believe that's
how I did it myself.

I have the same problem, and I have a DSL connection. I'm
currently using WIN98 (which I believe is what WIN ME is
built upon). Have you tried going to the View menu,
choosing Encoding, and then choosing Western European
(Windows)? This fixes the page for me, but then you have
to do it for every blasted page that you visit. Anyway,
the connection I've seen between lots of different people
is a high speed connection and windows 98/ME.

Jim,

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer, but am going crazy
with the same problem. I have since changed all my
settings and went from IE6 to 5 running Windows 98.
If you hear something, please let me know the
answer...Until then, I'll use Netscape.

Thanks,
John
