Graphics card problem?

I'm having problems with a pc I built. When playing FltSim2004, the card
stops communicating with the mb and the screen goes black. Sometimes the
pc reboots and at other times I must reboot it to eliminate the blcak
screen. This has also happened with Google earth. The card is an Abit
X700 Pci express card. My pc uses an ASUS P5GD1 mb with 3.4 ghz
processor and 1Gb of memory. I've sent the trouble reports to ATI since
it uses ATI technology but got no help. Can anyone advise what I can do
to eliminate this problem? It usually happens within 5 min. of starting
the game but with google earth it sometimes doesn't happen at all. Any
suggestions will be appreciated. BTW, the system runs XP Pro with the
SP2 updates.

Go and check your Event Viewer for errors\warnings.

I would suspect the PSU or the card itself. do you have OB video?
(Integrated)
try using it instead.

To add my 0.02, when I had "graphic card" problems appear from nowhere it
turned out to be the PSU at fault. Presumably it happens during games
because that is when the card needs that extra bit of voltage which strains
the failing PSU.

Cheers

Could also be overheating or bad memory stick.
Check temps or tery without the sides on the case.
Test ram one by one if you have more than one.
