Gradient on Gadget Bar

How can I turn off the gradient and still keep the gadget bar visible

How can I turn off the gradient and still keep the gadget bar visibe?

Don't know if that's possible, but once it's up, you can drag and drop
your gadgets to your desktop, and the gadgets will stay open, while
you close the sidebar.
