GPS on COM1

My Garmin GPS interfaced fine on my old PC with Win98 but
won't talk with my new PC running XP. It's a COM1
interface. Garmin told me to run the hyperterminal test
to see if data would stream across the screen using the
COM1 port and it did. They say that means Microsoft's
software isn't reading the data correctly....ok, what
does that mean? Do I need a new driver? Is this
Microsoft's problem or Garmin's?

All I can say is that my GPSV works fine with xp home.
You might try checking com1 properties under device manager Mine shows these
settings:

BPS..........9600
Data bits.........8
Parity.........none
Stop bits..........1
Flow cntrl..none

And under advanced, fifo is enabled with buffers set to max.

Hope this helps.
