GPO User Settings in a workstation OU

T

Tony Cooke

All,

Could someone explain or provide a link detailing how I can get GPO user
settings to take effect when a user logs on to a particular PC, rather than
just to that user account.

i.e.. I have an OU with workstations (only) in it. I want any user that logs
onto these workstations (from other OU's) to have screen savers set, etc...
these are user settings. Rather than placing the users in the OU where the
policy is set, the policy is set where the workstations are. Does that make
sense?

In the past, we have had to place some user accounts in the OU where the
'User Settings' GPO information resided for it to take effect, which is not
preffered.

TIA!!

I'm not sure I understand. Policy is split betwen user and computer policy.
User policy applies no matter which machine you log on to, computer policy
applies not matter who logs on. The only way to alter that is to use
loopback mode, which allows "duplicate" settings in the user and computer
nodes to be overwritten by the comptuer settings, (which is reverse from
default).

Can you claify your goals.

Corey
