Google Search

I had named my folders and files with capital letters. I read a suggestion
here to use all lower case. So, I changed my files and folders to lower
case (folder\file.htm).

When I google my site, it brings up the old path with the caps
(www.mysite.com/Folder/File.htm), not even the home page, but the gallery
page in fact. Is it best to just leave it be and google will eventually
link to my site or should I do a page with these caps and just have it
redirect to the correct home page? If I do a page with a redirect, will
that screw things up in the future?

Edited to add:

the page google brings up leads to an error page since the file name has
been changed, the page is no longer on the site.

That is the problem with site hosted under Unix/Linux. You can't change your folder / file name
without breaking links from search engine or users that have bookmarked pages.

It's best to just leave it be.

And the next time you read a suggestion, don't do anything unless you
understand the reasons behind the suggestion! People make suggestions all
the time, and there are 7 billion people in the world. Some of them are not
good ones. The only way to know if they are good ones is to research the
reasoning behind them.

Good Point.

I notice both you and Tom have file names and folder names in caps.

Should I change my folder names and file names back to capitals? The site
is new. Up about a week. Maybe it would be good to change it back. I just
changed it to lower case the other day so, if I change it back, it wouldn't
be that bad.

If I just leave it, will google find the correct page?. The site has only
been up about a week?

The site is with GoDaddy.

Unless you're having some sort of issue with the file and folder names, it's
best to just leave it be.

Your biggest concern with search engines will not be file and folder names,
but the popularity of the site. I would work on that (getting visitors).

Thanks. I think I will just leave it be. I did a google search just a few
minutes ago and now the main/home page is listed #1.
