Yes, I've noticed that, too, and a lot of other somewhat annoying changes
in
the new Google Groups Search layout and format! I'm glad to see that
others
have noticed this.
I most often encounter the behavior you've described when searching from
the
IE7 Search box (e.g., outlook express group:microsoft.public.*) with
Google
as my default.
However, if you enter the same search term at
http://groups.google.com/,
it
works as expected =>
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=outlook+express+group:microsoft.public.*&qt_s=Search+Groups
Likewise if you enter the same search term at, e.g.,
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/topics
and
use the Search Groups button=>
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...al&q=outlook+express+group:microsoft.public.*
...Except the results in the latter don't give you the newsgroup
reference.
For instance, in the latter, you get:
Outlook Express message?? If you accessed these newsgroups in your
default
newsreader (eg, Outlook Express
), it's simply intuitive and much easier. Setting up Outlook Express
to access
Microsoft newsgroups

I can't get into the links stated in my mail messages at outlook
express. I can
open them in internet explorer, but why can I not open them in

At least the Sort by date option's still available. I suppose Google
might
be open to feedback about this but YMMV.

In the past, I have often used Google Groups Advanced Search feature to
search for info in the various Microsoft Public Windowsxp groups and most
often find a helpful answer. Usually I simply enter
Microsoft.public.windowsxp.* in the 'Return only messages from the group
at
this location' slot. When I do that now I get returns from all sorts of
newsgroups, none of which have anything to do with windowsxp groups.
Does anyone else have this problem? If so, have you found a
solution/work
around?
Thank you.
