Yeah -- like Adobe Reader even ....

That was the first app I thought of when I wrote that. :)

Well if you only have 512MB of RAM isntalled and it wants 600MB yes I
imagine it may be slower while it pages.

But if you have 1GB, which really is a reasonable minimum amount these
days, why should you want unused RAM?

For me it's like the complaints that my CPU is running at 100% -- I
should hope so I paid enough for it not to have it sit around idle
while I'm working <g>

I do have issue with an app taking 100% CPU for an extended period.
That DOES slow everything to a crawl. RAM has nothing to do with it.

I had a misbehaving app doing this just the other day (I forget which
one, it was running in the background), so I killed it.

So do I but I see you are agreeing with me in your post to Joe.

Goodle earth is a great program but be aware that it requires a
substancian amount of memory.
If you are having problems with your computer, check how much memory
you have in it and consult on the net the amount required to run google
earth smoothly... You may have to add memory to your computer

For Windows PCs, from Google's site:

Minimum
System Memory (RAM): 256MB

Recommeded
System Memory (RAM): 512MB

So you're kidding, right?

Or did you really mean Goodle Earth? I didn't check that one...

Gene I think with the way XP has grown and with the things that people
unwittingly install I would suggest a Gigabyte at least. It makes a huge
difference.

Whatever. I happen to have Vista Home Premium x64 and 4GB...

I can't recall when I last had only 1GB of memory; probably well over 5
years ago.

The original Op's definition (and some other posters) of a "substancian
amount of memory" is obviously different to yours and mine. I think that
3 -4 gigs of memory is now normal. I would hate to run anything on Vista
with 512meg of ram.

The original poster would no doubt appreaciate the infomation that, although
Goodle Earth will run on a machine with a substancian ammount of mamary even
if it be measure in killerbites with floppy dik of less than one mommabite.
Best of coarse to have a substancian ammount wich measure in jiggabites with
a sirius hard dik of more than a friggabite. that is of coarse requited to
abcessing the goodle inferface with full fuctionaly, and naturaly i mean
FULL fuctionnaly not just the smidgin of stuff that you get when you don't
watch out for this kind of crappy machine speckifucation.

No offence, name-a-rooni, but this paragraph is a keeper!!!!! Nothing like
spraying a mouthful of coffee on a new monitor!

Hey, man, you've got to be careful. There are so many posters who can't
help writing that way, that at first I missed your satire. Give us
(mental) slowtards a clue next time!

In sort, I enjoyed your post...
