Google as default search engine

Hello,
I accidentally downloaded some nasty and mean-spirited
adware, and after several hours of painstaking work, my
computer is more or less back to normal.
One lingering problem: I can't get Google to be the
default search engine in IE6 anymore. Before, I'd merely
type a word or phrase in the address bar, hit Enter, and
the Google results would display. Now when I type a word
and hit Enter, I get the old "the page cannot be
displayed". I've tried to tweak the registry, but no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hey, I just encountered the same problem and I saw your
post so I decided to go on a manhunt for a solution to
our problem. The Google REG file did not work for me but
today, I finally came across a page at the Webzila.com
forums which contained a REG file for download:

I just d/led it to my desktop and double-clicked it. I
did drop it into Notepad first to see what exactly it was
going to do and where exactly it was going to implant
itself. It worked just fine for me and I do believe that
it will for you, as well. I hope it does, at least. :)
