I have a freshly installed laptop that does not work when you try to
MANUALLY do the Windows Update on it. If you turn auto-updates on it,
it will finish up. When you manually select it, the green bar that
goes back and forth will stay there and not go away or just lock up
the computer no matter how long you let it go for. How does it do the
updates on it's own, but tried manually just stalls out? If I read
MS's knowledge base support files, forget it. It's more confusing in
there since every KB file has links to 10 other KB files and it seems
to keep people running in cirlces.

I recommend you look through the posts in and if needed post to the windows
update newsgroup.
