i would like to completely reset my computer. i don't want to do a system
restore. how do i do it?

You have two choices:

With your computer you may have received a set of CDs that restores your
computer to the way it was when it left the factory. Or you may have a
hidden partition on your computer that does the same thing. Contact your
computer manufacturer to see if either is true and to obtain
instructions on how to use them.

The other choice is to buy a retail copy of Windows and install it on
your own.

Exactly what does that mean? Please be very specific about what you want to
do. Why do you want to do this?

Do you have a Windows CD? Is it an installation CD or a restoration CD?

Why don't you want to do a system restore? If you have a restoration CD, a
system restore *is* the way to "completely reset [your] computer."
