I installed Service Pack 2. After going through the rebooting none of my
applications that used Internet would work. I uninstalled Service Pack 2 and
now all of those work with a few exceptions. Now when I load Nortons all I
see is a blank screen. After uninstalling and reinstalling Nortons I still
only get a white screen. I have the desktop weather from weather.com and
that will not load all I see after reinstalling that is a blank screen with
an error message with a blank screen with a title TH1190~1. Does anyone have
any suggestions or fixes?

Using XP SP1 is dangerous: MS no longer issues security fixes for it,
so you are making yourself vulnerable to malware.

Based on your description of your problems it is hard to say what the
causes of your problems are, but it seems likely to me that your O/S was
unstable before you upgraded to SP2: perhaps you have malware on your
PC; perhaps your registry is askew; perhaps you have some unstable
applications or improperly uninstalled applications; perhaps many
things. You should make SP1 rock solid before going to SP2, and disable
tools like NAV during the upgrade to SP2.

I agree that SP2 is "rock-solid!" It seems that the magority of the
problems occur with Norton AntiVirus "Internet Worm" and Norton
Firewall (part of Internet Security.) These "tend" to block all
access directly from/to Internet until you create an access rule.
PITA!

SP2 has been running like a rock around here for well over a year now. The
system has Norton AV but nothing else.

Same here, but I've never used Norton after the first trial run years
ago... and never will. Haven't had any problems with SP2 for year+.

I have been planning to get rid of Norton for some time. It may be time to
quit planning and start doing.

The point I was trying to make is that the PC should be stable BEFORE
installing SP2.
I agree completely (and I missed your point, alas). Only install a big
update like SP2 on a system that is bullet proof. To do otherwise is
begging for trouble.

I know Norton works for many people, but it caused problems for me with
every application I wanted to use, that wasn't a MS product. So it was
too easy for me to get free products to replace it, which didn't tax my
resources, or conflict with other software. Have never regretted it. :)
