Going back to 2003 from 2007

I installed Office 2007 Professional without realizing that it would install
Access 2007. I need to go back to 2003. Are there any gotchas if I just use
Add/Remove programs to un-install Access 2007, and then re-install Access
2003?

am not a systems person sufficiently to answer your question; but why are
you saying you "must" go back to 03?

is your concern that because you will be doing development; anything done in
the 07 machine will not be backward compatible to 03 users?... as long as
one stays in mdb I wonder if that is true....would be interested in mvp input
on this point too...

It would take too long to explain why I need to go back. Perhaps you could
post your question separately?

But as long as my post is now showing up with an "answer," let me add here
that my installation of Office 2007 was from a CD created by my company and
has no options in it. On the web there are a couple of postings that
recommend using the installation CD for an uninstall of Access 2007. But
that is not an option for me.

Did your install process actually uninstall Office 2003, or did it just
install Office 2007 and make it the default? There's no particular reason
you can't have both Access 2003 and Access 2007 on the same computer, and
you may still have Access 2003 installed. If so. all you'd need to do is
start up Access 2003 and I believe (though I could be wrong) it will
reregister itself as the default application for the various Access-related
file extensions.

If the install process did uninstall Access 2003, you should be able to
reinstall it without removing Access 2007, so long as you don't install it
in the same folder. I'm not speaking from experience with Access 2007 here,
but I've installed multiple versions of Access on the same computer, not
even in ascending order by version, and had no trouble with it.

I've been told that you have problems if you have them both installed. This
is different from all preceding releases of Access. I looked for my notes
on exactly what the problems are, but couldn't find them. But I've been
told it by at least two Access professional developers. So here I'm looking
for the experience of people who have actually done this. It seems to be a
new creature.

The problems with having both installed are almost exclusively related to
USING both. That is going back and forth between the two. Even that is
only an issue when you initially make the transition. Once having done so
the last one opened should work okay.

If you just want to reinstall 2003 and use just that version you shouldn;t
have too much trouble.

Easier said than done. In my case I get an error ( Language not
supported?!?) when using ctrl panel add / remove utility. I have XP, and am
trying to go back to Office 2003. Still working the issue. Any ideas out
there?
