Go to Next Unread Email

R

Raven

Hi,

is there a reliable way to go to the next unread email in outlook
2003? The shortcut I found by googling (CTRL+U) doesn't do this it
just makes the current email unread.

Is it possible to add a button for this (similar to thunderbird,
outlook express) - I did not find any suitable command in customize /
toolbar. Maybe some VBA code?

At the moment I am looking at my inbox and it shows there is one
unread email but I can not find it.

thanks in advance
Axel

just to follow up on this, I also tried advanced find, but I could not
find a "Read" or "Unread" attribute in any of the popups? What is the
proper term for it in advanced find?

You can change your view to show unread items only;
View-> Arrange By-> Current View-> Unread Messages in This Folder

Thanks sounds like a work around (bit long winded...) I found that if
I double clicked the Message it would open a new window with some blue
arrows on it. Pity these don't exist in the main toolbar.

Another thing can I have Conversations together and order these by
date (or first mail or last mail in the conversation, I don't care) ?
Anytime I try this (group by Conversation, then sort by Received) the
grouping gets changed to Date? Is there another way to achieve this?

Or is this a feature that is planned for Outlook 2007 only?

thanks in advance
Axel

The Conversation view should already display it sorted by date with the most
recent at the top. If the conversation branches of a couple of times, it
could indeed be that the older messages are shown before more recent ones as
it then gets sorted by most recent branche.

How is it sorted for you? You might need to reset your Conversation view if
it does not show correctly anymore;
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...-> Reset Current View

what i meant is not just sorting the emails within a thread but
sorting all threads by date. This could be either based on the date of
the first or better last email within a thread. LIke the way
THunderbird does it.

But that is already how Outlook does it as well. The conversation with the
latest reply is shown at the top.
