Global Address Book Issues.

Hello everyone. I have another question for the Outlook-Exchange pros. Here
it is. I need the functionality of the global address list, as well as the
functionality of a personal contacts list. Here is my idea. I was thinking
I could maybe instead of using a global address list, use the personal
contacts of the employee who enters new contacts for the company address list
as a global address list. What I mean is that I will share the personal
address list of the main person who accesses and appends the contacts
database. Then I will connect to that persons contacts on every other
Exchange client, so that they can use this database. That solves the problem
of getting the functionality of a personal contacts list, but how can I
replicate this data from the main contacts database to the real global
address list? Also, if this is to work, should the main editor enter new
data in the global address list directly, and then have it replicate to their
personal contacts, or vice-versa? Any and all help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Assuming that "contacts" are external business customers of your site, why
not leverage the user of public folders? A contact folder can be made out
there and if I'm not mistaken can be used as an Outlook Address Book. What
is nice about this solution is that you can set rights on the public folder
so that only key individuals can make changes while the remainder get read
(reviewer) rights.

The flip side to this is to delegate the rights to an OU in Active Directory
that key person(s) to create/maintain the contact records. You would have
to teach them how to use Active Directory Users and Computers to do this
maintenance, but the external contacts would be available in the GAL.
