glary utilities

I do not want recommendations, thank you, but I would appreciate opinions
about this program, especially the registry cleaner. I used the windows reg
cleaner and luckily all was ok. I believe only those who can maneuver the
registry well should use regisrty cleaners but a friend has me convinced that
this is a program with integrity.
Thank you.

stick with the ones
you know and trust

also, you really only
need 1 or 2 different
cleaners at the most

further, they really only
need to be used / run
infrequently or when
a problem is suspected.

Glary Utilities is featured in this month's PC Pro Magazine and gets 5 out
of 5 stars. They seem to love it.

The good thing is that it keeps copies of everything it deletes from your
registry (30 of the last cleanings are kept by default) and you can undo the
changes if you find that something is acting hinky after a regclean.

I use it myself and have seen no problems with it thus far.

Thank you for the support re: this issue. So far I have heard all good things
about it.

Take your time with it, Grampy. I use Glary too, and it is 99%
excellent program, 1% "over-enthusiastic" program. For heaven's sake,
don't delete any of it's backup files for at least a week! But for the
price (basic, which does just about everything: it's free) you can't
beat it.

Tony -thank you for the tip about not deleting for a week. I will keep that
in mind as I do for any program deletions.
Do you have an opinion re: 'glary' opposed to 'erunt'?

I have used ERUNT for years, and find it 100% reliable. (many of the
MVP's hereabouts have recommended it, too). Very good idea to make an
ERUNT backup of the registry (and it backs up ONLY the registry) before
and after each full use of Glary. ERUNT backup folders are named by
default with the date you created it. I change that to a short name
that I will always remember as being connected to a certain time. For
example, you can name the two runs of ERUNT I named above as "PreGlary"
and "PostGlary. If you need to access them from the C: prompt someday,
you will need to know the name of the folder you want, hence don't stuff
the ERNDT folder full of too many backups - easy to get confused. IF
all is well for a week, make a new ERUNT beckup to replace the old.
Needing to revert to a very *old* registry is potentially harmful. Keep
em fresh.
