Giving Up on Excel Queries

E

Eddie W.

Hi! I have a workbook that contains a sheet called RawData with columns
called "Ticket," "UserName," "VIP," and so on. I have another sheet that
contains several queries that point to the RawData sheet. The RawData
information is updated with Edit / Paste Special / Values on a monthly basis
to generate the monthly reports. In Excel 2003, after using the workbook for
a few months to do the monthly report, the queries would start failing with
an "unrecognized database format" error and I'd have to go back several
months to a previous workbook. Fast forward to using Excel 2007. I created
a new workbook with new sheets in basically the same format as the Excel 2003
workbook. Guess what? This month, Excel 2007 is telling me the same thing.
None of the queries will present results. The file has worked for months and
now it won't. Is there something I'm missing?? What gives with these files
just not working at some point?? Thanks for any insights!!

Hi,

when you say queries, what exactly do you mean? Are you running an External
Data query against the workbook you are in? I would be impressed, since
Microsoft tried for 7 years to do that and couldn't find a way. A little bit
more detail is necessary.

Cheers,
