Giving Powerpoint it's own video card

U

Unseenthings

We just put a 32in lcd in the lobby and connected it to a nearby
computer. The computer had an onboard nvidia 6100, so we bought a pci-e
nvidia 6200 for the 32in lcd to use. We can output the powerpoint to
the 32in just fine. Problem being, that when someone uses the computer
and it's local monitor, it disrupts the powerpoint. We tried to give
the powerpoint it's own user account and use fast user switching in xp
to seperate it, but alas xp doesn't seperate the displays. What is my
solution, is there something i need to configure w/ nview, do i need to
get a dual head card? or do i just need to get it it's own computer?
Thanks
Brian

No, this is normal behavior. PowerPoint likes to have the full attention of
the CPU, so it stops while you do anything else, and restarts when you give
it control back. This can be changed by using the PowerShow add-in for
PowerPoint.

As Bill suggested, PowerShow will do it, however... PPT is a VERY CPU
intensive task and that is why MS coded it to use all the available power of
the machine. The point I am making is that you will need a seriously
powerful PC to pull this off without PPT appearing "jerky" in it's
animations, transitions, etc.

Honestly if it were me, a second PC is much cheaper than the big screen LCD
you just bought. <g> I would buy another PC and dedicate it to your task.
