gigabit ethernet

If I replace my integrated 10/100 base-T network interface with a PCI
10/100/1000 Mbps gigabit Ethernet card, will my download and upload speeds
increase? A friend of a friend swears by it but does not have any numbers
before and after to support it. Running cable broadband with an XP PC.
Thanks, Steve T.

Thanks, Steve T.

Your Internet connection will always be slower than your Ethernet
connection, using a cable modem. So, no.

Only from computer to computer on your network. Download speed from internet
depends from the speed of internet connection and is much slower than
100Mbps, as a rule for DSL expect 1.5 -3 MBps for cable 3-6 MBps, for
fiberoptic can be up to 30 MBps
