I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

Windows 2000 @ SP4, fairly fresh build (2 weeks old):

When selecting another preset colour-scheme (under Appearance in Display
Properties), will revert to the 'Windows Standard' colour scheme randomly,
no matter which application is at the foreground, and whether or not the OS
is idle. There's also no standard duration when this occurs: could happen
within 10 minutes or within half an hour...

There's no pattern to this at all! No other applications are running and
no odd processes in the list... not profile-specific (created a new
profile, still the same)... no viruses/trojans present (up to date
definitions)...

Anyone?

TIA

Have you tried setting it to "Windows Standard", then rebooting, then stting
it to the desired scheme?

That solves some of the weirdness associated with changing wallpaper.

I'm not changing the wallpaper, just the colours. There is no wallpaper
set.

I tried setting the desktop to 'Windows Standard' manually, then to
something else, and it still reverts back of its own accord... very odd.

A re-install it is then.

I mentioned the wallpaper as an example of a similar situation whose
solution might work in your case.

Good luck.

Your input was appreciated.

There was other weird stuff, like the mouse pointer going to 10 O'clock
straight after entering my password, instead of staying in the middle of
the screen.

It was a 'sick' build (through no fault of my own). S.H... I guess.

Thanks anyway.
