Ghosting project: Imaging one desktop to another different models

I'm currently investigating whether anyone knows of a solid software that
will enable meet the following requirements.

1) ghost an image from one computer to another. These computers are
running Windows XP and are on a AD 2003 domain

2) Computers are a different model and make with different hardware. Case
in point moving data, programs, users accounts, etc from a Dell GX280 to HP
Compaq DC7700.

3) Looking to do about 300 desktops.

Please share your experience. I would really like to know how long it took
and whether it actually worked. I've only stumbled upon PCMover by Laplink
but hopefully someone knows of an Enteprise software that will do this.

There are a lot of different solutions but, you should take the time to
check out True Image Echo by Acronis software. It has the capability to do
what you want, I have not yet done that, so I can't attest to how it works.
But, I use True Image, and after having used Ghost for MANY years, I have
found this to be a much better imaging "and" backup solution. Here's a link
to the software:

I would not use the term "ghosting" to describe what you appear to be
attempting to do. Moving data, programs, user accounts from Dell to Compaq
can be accomplished without drive imaging much easier than with it.
