Hi to all,

Would have posted this question on thread already posted, however not
allowed as it is more than 60 days old.

SO

My Ghost 10 System Tray Icon is missing, just disappeared, have posted
this problem on various sites to no avail. Was advised if I wanted it
back I would have to install and reinstall Ghost 10 which I would not
do as it is working so well backing up to my 120GB Seagate Barracuda
internal removable hard drive.

I have also tried all suggestions on this site with no success. I did
put a shortcut into my quick launch which is not quite as good, but
dearly would love it back into my systems tray which among other things
shows me when Ghost is backing up my system.

Any suggestions at all please?

Happy New Year to you all.

try start>run>msconfig selective startup and look for any norton or ghost
and make sure all are selected. reboot and see if it comes back.

I can't recall if it had a Repair option or not, but it won't harm your image
archive(s) to uninstall/reinstall/?repair? Ghost.
Use Control Panel Add/Remove Programs to uninstall/?repair? it, If it has a Change
button it may have the repair option.

Or if you wish you can try the Symantec AutoFix tool here first:

Have you contacted Symantec Tech support? Is that the only icon missing?
Have you checked to make sure it's just not hidden? Uninstalling /
reinstalling should only take a couple of minutes.

Hi Brian A Sesko,

Hope you get to read this as there was no reply option with your post
below to allow me to thank you. I wondered if I had not explained
myself clearly for you in my initial post? I am new to this forum and
would appreciate you telling me in your words if my message was
unclear.

Kind regards, and thank you for your post.

Happy New Year to you all.

There is an option in Options; Ghost to control the tray icon. It's in the
Tray tab of Options; Ghost from the Norton Control Panel. Check to see if
it's been unticked or set to show only when there are errors. Have you
checked that?

The way I read it was that you have Norton Ghost v10 installed, the Ghost icon in
the systray was no longer present and you wanted it back in the systray. You
appeared reluctant to a suggestion to uninstall/reinstall seemingly with the notion
it may/could corrupt it and wondered if there were other options.

If the above isn't correct, then no, you didn't explain your issue well.

Now as for this posted query by you wondering if I understood, I believe it is due
to the links in my signature. Those links are there at all times and in no way are
they directed at any one specific user. They are there to assist any user who
happens to read a post I've responded in and would like to post a question yet isn't
sure on how to go about it. This helps the user help those of us that help respond
with resolutions to the specific issue at hand without having to play dentist and
start pulling teeth to get the proper information to properly help.

In response to your thankyou which leans me to surmise you either reinstall or
repaired and all is well: You're quite welcome, glad to help. Enjoy! Have a great
upcoming holiday and keep it keyed bracelets free.
