getting wmp10 to see mp3s created from tapes

All the tapes that I have streamed in and converted to MP3s whether put into
artist folders (like the ones I rip off my Cd's) come up in my library under
Unknown Artist, or Unknown Album. How do I get these tapes I'm converting to
be recognized by wmp10 as albums in their folders. The file structure looks
the same, is there some specific file tags that have to be created for wmp10
to put them into structures appropriate for album/artist/song etc.... I have
named the songs, with the track structure as exists in the albums, I have put
the appropiate mp3s in the appropriate album file, then the albums for an
artist all under the appropriate artist header. such as
c:\mymusic\rollingstones\hot hits\jumping jack flash.mp3. But Rolling stones,
nor the album come up at all. Just the song "jumping jack flash, in the
unknown album pile. Help!

Have you tried bringing up the files in Windows Explorer by right clicking,
selecting "Properties", then the "Summary" tab, then the "Advanced" button?
By doing this, although timely, you can set all the tag info for the songs.
It takes time because you have to click to the right of the various headings
in order to bring up a box where you can insert the info, and you can't use
the "TAB" key to go to the next heading. You must click each one
individually. You might be able to find an editor on-line that can help with
this. Most of them will allow you to bring in all your titles and just by
clicking on them, an editing box will come up and make the editing job much
faster than using Explorer.
