Getting video from DVD-RW

I am just getting started and am afraid to try this without knowing the
answer. Can I put a DVD-RW on which I recorded video (using my digital
camcorder) directly into the disc tray of the PC and get the video into movie
maker that way? Or do I have to connect the camera to the PC via USB?

you can do that... but Movie Maker doesn't copy the files from wherever they
are.... so it would need to be in the disc tray whenever you wanted to work
on the project that needed it.... and that would tie up the drive to other
discs while it was being used.

discs in trays are accessed slower than files on hard drives, so your
project editing experience might degrade.

In otherwords you should copy the file(s) to your harddrive and import from
there instead of importing directly from the DVD.
