Hi,
Is it possible to get rid of unwanted files left over when I installed SP2?
Do you know which files to delete?
regards

You might try the following MS-MVP site.

Save Space After Installing Updates

I hope this helps you, please post back and let us know

You gave us an interesting link but it suggests that
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" can safely be deleted whereas in
my system the logs in it are in use.

BTW I have a huge folder under Windows - assembly - containing 160 GB, dated
April 2004. I have often wondered if I can delete it.

my system the logs in it are in use.

That is probably because Automatic Updates (wuauclt.exe) is running.
Automatic Updates service in service.msc is probably set to Automatic.

The whole contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder can be deleted. It
gets recreated every time that you visit Windows Update.
