Hi All,
Why is it that when I change the font size of a cell's contents that is
a number, it changes to #####s if it gets too large, but it simply
overspills if the cell contects is straight text??. I need to overspill a
number, but excel won't let me. How do I turn off this annoying feature?
(ie. turning cell contents to #####s).
The format of both cells are identical.

Any ideas?.

Thanks,
Dave

Why? Because that's the way the program was designed. Most people expect
numbers to be right-aligned and text left-aligned.

You can't get numeric entries to "spill" into the cell on the right. You can,
however, use the Shrink to Fit alignment, which will reduce the font size for
this cell.

If it's really important to you to have a number spill over you can change
the format of the cell to text and then enter the number. You have to enter
the number after you change the format of the cell to text.

Thanks Gary. That works great.
