getting rid of quick launch

i want to get rid of the quick launch taskbar through the
registery settings but i am unable to find out how to do
this.

Don't know.
But you can remove the
<profile root>\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
\Quick Launch\
folder.
