Hello -- I took over this PC from the person previously working at this
desk. The "My Documents" folder is called C:\Documents and
Settings\Christine Churchwell\My Documents and I want to replace
"Christine Churchwell" with my own name. I tried to change the name of
the folder, but it said it was a system folder and couldn't be changed.
How can I remedy this? Will it be more trouble than it's worth,
having to change other settings, etc.?

The easiest way is to create a new profile and copy the data:

You will need to log in the new profile at least once before you will be
able to copy the data over.

Once you are sure all is OK with the new profile, the old profile may be
safely deleted using User Accounts in Control Panel.

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been.
So, your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in
Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username
desired. You can then delete the old user account(s).

Bruce, this sounds like it might work, but when I log in as
Administrator and try to create a new account, I can't type anything in
the "Type name for new account" box. The cursor is there and flashing,
but nothing happens when I press keyboard keys. I'm pretty sure the
keyboard works fine on other applications under Admin login, and even
on a previous try yesterday it did let me type a new account name --
but that try failed for other reasons, and I restored my registry to
the day before so I could start again. Any ideas why I can't type a
new account name?
