Getting PPT links to Word to work

I am attempting to link numbered text boxes in a PPT diagram to
matching number steps in a Word document (the locations have been
bookmarked).

I have 2 situations:
1) I am told that if I save the presentation as pps, I do not have to
click "view show" in order for someone to link from the PPT text box to
the Word doc. This does not seem to work.

2) Even when I use "view show", only the FIRST link on a slide of text
boxes links to the appropriate place in Word; if I select a second link
from the same slide, it goes to the top of the Word document, not to
the place I bookmarked.

Thanks!

I am having difficulty reproducing what you have described. I am using
PowerPoint 2003 and Word 2003

1) When a presentation is saved as a PPS (PowerPoint Show) file, it only
changes what PowerPoint will do when the file is activated via double
clicking on the icon (the default action). PowerPoint will open the
presentation in show mode without the edit window being displayed. There is
no difference in the functionality of the links within the PPS vs. the links
within the PPT.

2) I created a simple doc file with bookmarks One, Two, and Three. I then
created 3 PowerPoint shapes each with a hyperlink to one of these. I placed
them on 3 consecutive slides and they all worked. I placed them on the same
slide and they worked. I left the word document open between activating the
links and they worked. I could not get it to fail. Some things I should
explain a givens. All bookmarks began with a letter and had no spaces or
special characters (basic bookmark format rules). All hyperlinks were
formatted in the 'c:\sample document.doc#Three' format. In fact I could not
get Word to go to the top of the page (with a bookmark hyperlink) until I
deleted the bookmark.

Perhaps you are using an older version of the software?
