I could use some help getting an older program (MicroCookbook 5.0
Pinpoint/ISMI software) running under Windows XP professional. It has run
correctly under Windows 95, Windows 2000 professional and Windows ME. In
each case, I had to add the cookbook program folders to the path command,
which solved the problem. I have tried this on XP professional using My
Computer - Properties - Advanced - Environment Variables - Path - Edit
process. I have also moved the ODBC.DLL file to both the C:\Windows\System32
and C:\Windows\System directories. It seems as if the Path is the problem,
but I have no idea what other steps I might try.

Opening screen of the program appears and then get following error message:

[Microsoft][ODBC DLL] Data source name not found and no default driver
specified

Click on OK and get the following error message:

[Microsoft][ODBC DLL] Connection not open

Click on OK and get a dialogue box which gives the program name and shows a
yellow triangle with an exclamation point in the center.

Click on OK and get the following message:

Unable to locate or open C:\CookWrks\Cookbks\Favorite.OTM. Please select a
cookbook file.

Click on OK and it goes to the Open Cookbook Dialogue box. It lists the
correct cookbooks and paths to their folders. The opening program dialogue
box is showing in the backround. If I click on a cookbook, it shows the
first error message above again.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find a solution in the ODBC Manager, but
I'm not sure what I was looking for. Any further suggestions would be much
appreciated.

Sounds Like an ODBC problem, you've run the ODBC Manager? - see help

I have tried all the compatability setting from '95 on with no success. Is
there something in XP that blocks certain paths or program extensions by
default?

Any help you could give would be much appreciated.

Try installing it under the compatability wizard with win 98 settings.
