Getting into programs help

When my nephew turns on his computer he gets the following message:
BIOS ROM check SUm error
Detecting floppy drive A media. Insert system disk and press enter.

Could anyone tell me what to do to get beyond this message or what is wrong
with his computer that would be the reason behind getting this message? He
doesn't have a system disk to insert.

Enter the BIOS, remove it looking for a floppy diskette.

How old is his computer? That is usually the first sign of a dead BIOS
system battery on the mother board.
You should turn off the computer and unplug it.
Then open the case and look on the motherboard for a slim battery that
resembles the size of a US 25 cent piece.
Carefully remove it and take it with you to your nearest electronics
store to get a direct replacement. After re-installing the new battery
taking every precaution to place it with the correct polarity you
should be fine. However you may have to reset a few items in the BIOS.
Check the day date time settings, boot order (floppy first, cd second,
hard drive last)....Those should be the only critical settings. If
your up on BIOS setups, you can tweak it later to optimize any
problems or performance issues.

I too a have the same problem with my grandson's computer. His computer
does'nt have a floopy drive and his also says ide atapi device not detected.
His computer is less than 2 years old.

If Trev's advice worked for you let me know.
