getting ### in text field

Hi

I'm using Excel 2002 on a Windows XP machine. I'm getting #### in a text cell. I have checked "wrap text". The text is long, but I've entered longer items before so I don't think it a size issue. I also tried changing the cell height. Even f I make it 3 or 4 times the height required for the text, it still displays as one complete line of ###

I'd appreciate any suggestions. I've never seen this one before

Hi Sherry,

The problem is the cell is too small to fit the text in
at the size you want.

You can do one of two things, make it bigger or shrink
the text.

An easy way to shrink text is to go back into the cell
properties by wrap text and this time check shrink to
fit.

Hope this helps,
Jen

Select a normal cell from elsewhere in the doc, or from a new file, then hit the
format painter icon (yellow brush), then wipe across the affected cells. Now
set to wrap text or whatever you want.

Re-format the cell to General.

Usually clears this up.

Thanks to all who responded. I had already tried all of the suggestions listed, e.g., resizing the field (to 3 or 4 times what was required for the text), redefining from text to general, using the format painter, etc.). Nothing worked. I also closed the worksheet, exited Excel, restarted Excel, and opened the worksheet. Also tried deleting the cell contents and retyping. Nothing worked. I finally deleted the entire row and retyped everything and it works fine.
