getting 10/100 NIC cards to run at 100meg

Network runs fine at 10meg through a switcher. (all XP machines)

Put a 100meg switcher in and 2 machines with onboard network cards jump upto
100meg, but a 3com 3c900 card and a Realtek 8029 card in 2 other
machines stay
at 10meg. !! network is still operating.

how do you guarantee/get 100 meg operation?

all cables are new Cat5, have tried setting duplex... settings etc and
reinstalling drivers

Does XP need to install a driver differently for 100 meg operation

Any help appreciated

This option would be set on each computer in the Hardware Manager, open the
network card entry in the hardware list, then check the Advanced tab for
settings for speed, duplex, etc.

As I recall, the 3Com 3c900 and Realtek 8029 are old cards that only
run at 10 Mb. See:

I always thought they were 10/100....ah well.......
