Get rid of 'Always ask before opening this type of file' for good.

Within our company there is a necessity to open DOC, XLS and PPT files
through IE pages.
We prefer for the links to open within the relevant application instead of
within an IE window which is currently how our environment is configured.

The problem:
We get the popup blocker interfering and the "Confirm open after download"
dialog box which appears. I thought I had resolved the issue by configuring
all our desktops with the following reg settings:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.Document.8]
"EditFlags"=dword:00010000
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8]
"EditFlags"=dword:00010000
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPoint.Show.8]
"EditFlags"=dword:00010000

There is a MS article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905703) about
something along the lines of the problem I'm getting but doesn't give an
entire solution.

What I'm trying to find is a list of Registry settings that I can deploy to
our XP SP2 desktops so that we never get the IE popup blocker or Confirm
after download window.

Thanks in advance!
This works initially but after a while we start to get the popup blocker and
"confirm open after download" again.

You try through the File association, by Tools>> Folder Options >> File Type
and on the DOC, XLS and PPT files Uncheckl the check box for prompt on
Download.

Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Networking and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
Click Security Tab, then click Custom Level, there check the Automatically
Download Like this:

[&] Downloads
[&] Automatic Prompting for file Downloads
(*) Disable
( ) Enable
HTH.
Let us know.
