get IAS authorization error over VPN

I'm trying to connect from a windows 98 machine to a windows XP home machine
via a VPN. when i attempt to do so, i get the following in my system event
log on the xp machine:

Event ID: 20189

The user WORKGROUP\gary connected from 24.235.235.249 but failed an
authentication attempt due to the following reason: The current
configuration of the Internet Authentication Service (IAS) server only
supports local user accounts.

any idea how to configure xp home to allow this type of access?

never mind - just had to clear "WORKGROUP" from the "domain" box of the 98
logon dialog.
