I have numerous users reporting that they cannot log into vpn. I've
looked at the System Event logs and see hundreds (literally) of these:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: RemoteAccess
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20189
Date: 12/04/2007
Time: 8:46:16 AM
User: N/A
Computer: ISA-Server
Description:
The user Domain\JoeUser connected from 123.123.123.123 but failed an
authentication attempt due to the following reason: There was an
authentication failure because of an unknown user name or a bad password.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

We are not using an ISA server. We use a Cisco PIX and ProCurve
switches. This started yesterday. The only thing I can think of is
that we did a firmware upgrade of our switches on Sunday.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

George

I'm bumping this...we have seen a lot of inconsistencies lately with our
VPN on Windows 2000. Some users log in fine, others get a 721 error and
get locked out. Can anyone please suggest something?

Thanks!

George
