German update changed IE default text

Hope someone can help me with this... I loaded a german version of SP1
thinking it wouln't be a big deal but now, the typical default text in some
IE windows is in german. What I've seen is usually the "Page canot be
displayed" page in german and right clicking menus and download windows with
german text.

I've since loaded an english language version of SP1 and the regularr IE6
updates but it still comes up in german. Any ideas on how to change it back
to english?

Thanks for the suggestion Henri, but after running the SFC.exe, it
apparently didn't find anything. I runs, checking on the system files, and
then quits after the files are checked. I also tried reinstalling just the
IE6 files from the installation CD.

Any other thoughts?

Hi Henri-

I tried the SFC but it didn't seem to find anything. Thanks for the
suggestion.

Or run SFC.EXE and see which files it tells you that have been changed.

So did Henri guess correctly that your OS is Win98?

Other of your posts suggest that you have XP Pro?

In any case for what should be some diagnostic information
common to all OS here's an (edited) excerpt from a reply to a similar
question.

BTW I know that the exception that I picked (systemLanguage)
was the wrong one but I can't remember for sure if userLanguage
was the right one; it seems unlikely to be browserLanguage
but I just recall being surprised that it wasn't systemLanguage.

<excerpt>
what result do you get at this site?

FWIW I have en-us, en-us, en-us

<lines deleted>

If you prefer you can get the same information by entering these
three script fragments in your Address bar:

javascript:navigator.browserLanguage
javascript:navigator.systemLanguage
javascript:navigator.userLanguage

Except for systemLanguage I think that you could experiment
by changing these (e.g. in Tools, Options, Language and Control Panel,
Regional Settings.) YNK changing them and then changing them back
might even result in a "fix" or perhaps at least a workaround.

A related factor that I have suggested before is to try an IE Repair
if you can do that. An inferior alternative would be to try re-registering
mlang.dll. The relevant commands (e.g. to be entered in the Run...
window) would be:

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

regsvr32 mlang.dll
