Genuine Windows Message

Hi.

I bought a pc (secondhand) about a year ago which already had XP on it and
am now getting a message in the system tray saying its not a genuine copy of
windows. When i bought the pc i also bought a copy of XP so have a genuine
copy of windows with COA Label but the one installed on the machine is
clearly not genuine. Is there an easy way i can put the licensing details
into the installed copy of XP without completely reinstalling the software?

thanks

If the genuine Product Key affixed to the computers is for
Windows XP Professional, use the following:

Change your Product Key without a reinstall to match your
genuine Product Key or COA:

The Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool is only valid for
users attempting to change their current non-genuine Product Key
to a genuine COA sticker or genuine Product Key - all without a reinstall! http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=50346&clcid=0x409

Hi Jon/Alfie
You could start here as you are getting the WGA/WGNA warning - there is lots
to read.

Should get a direct response from an MS mouth-piece.
Good luck
