Generic Host Process

Harry

Every time I turn the computer on I get a popup window
warning that "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services
5.1.2600.0" is trying to access the internet. It also
comes up when connected to the internet. Whether I deny it
or allow it it keeps coming back. How do I disable it or
remove it?
I have downloaded the latest update this morning and
scanned for viruses and it doesn't register.

Various XP functions use the internet and will cause the message you are
receiving. If you have XP configured to synchronize time with the Internet
or configured for automatic updates, XP must check the Internet
periodically. There are other services within XP as well that require
internet access and will cause. Hence, unless you disable that specific
function or grant Generic Host Process for Win32 Services the right of
access through your firewall without asking, you will see this popup.
